Bitaxe Supra
The Bitaxe Supra 401 is the Bitaxe generation before the Gamma. Its single Bitmain BM1368 chip hashes about 600 GH/s on 12 to 15 W from a 5 V supply. It uses the same AxeOS browser setup as newer Bitaxes. It is worth buying only if cheap, since the Gamma doubles the hashrate.

Good and less good
Good
- Cheap way into ASIC mining, especially used.
- Same open firmware and dashboard as the Gamma.
- Uses about 120 kWh a year.
Less good
- Half the hashrate of a Bitaxe Gamma for similar power, so less efficient.
- At about 0.6 TH/s, solo blocks are a lottery with very long odds.
- Older model: fewer new units in stock, so check what you are buying.
Set it up on DirectPool
The Supra runs AxeOS, the web dashboard served by the miner. After it joins your WiFi, its screen shows an IP address; open it in a browser on the same network.

- Stratum User

Replace your_bc1_address with a Bitcoin address you control (bc1 or 3). The part after the dot is a name for this machine, so you can tell your miners apart. Addresses starting with 1 are not accepted.
- 1.Power the miner on. On first boot it opens its own WiFi hotspot called Bitaxe_XXXX. Join it from your phone or laptop.
- 2.A setup page should open by itself. If not, go to http://192.168.4.1 in a browser.
- 3.Enter your home WiFi name and password. It must be a 2.4 GHz network. The miner restarts and joins your WiFi, and its screen shows its new IP address.
- 4.Type that IP address into a browser on the same network to open AxeOS, then open Settings (on newer versions, the Pool tab).
- 5.Fill in the four pool fields with the values above, click Save, then Restart.
Common mistakes
- Putting stratum+tcp:// in the Stratum Host field. AxeOS wants the bare host name, with the port in its own field.
- Typing the Bitcoin address by hand. Copy and paste it from your wallet so one wrong character does not send rewards nowhere.
- Using a 5 GHz network, or a router that mixes 2.4 and 5 GHz under one name. If the miner will not connect, give the 2.4 GHz band its own name.
- Forgetting to click Restart after Save. The new pool is only used after the restart.
- Flashing a firmware file made for a different Bitaxe model. Use the release asset for the Supra (401), or the web flasher, which picks it for you.
After a few minutes, paste your address on the pool page to see the machine. Small miners can take a while to send their first share.

Electricity cost
Running all year at about 14 W, the Bitaxe Supra uses about 123 kWh a year.

Questions
- Bitaxe Supra or Bitaxe Gamma?
- The Gamma, unless the Supra is much cheaper. The Gamma hashes about twice as fast for a similar power draw.
- Can the Supra run the latest AxeOS?
- Yes. AxeOS (ESP-Miner) supports the Supra 401. Pick the file built for your board, or use the web flasher.
- Which settings do I enter for DirectPool?
- In AxeOS Settings: Stratum Host stratum.directpool.io, Stratum Port 3333, Stratum User your bc1 address plus .worker, Password x. Save, then Restart.
- How much does it cost to run?
- About 120 kWh a year at 14 W, so about 25 a year at 0.20 per kWh.
- Is a used Supra safe to buy?
- Usually, if it hashes near 600 GH/s and the fan spins. Ask the seller for an AxeOS screenshot and check that the barrel jack is not damaged.
