by Braiins, open source hardware

The Braiins Mini Miner BMM 101 is a small, finished desk miner from Braiins, the company behind Braiins OS. It does about 1 TH/s at 40 W by default, up to 80 W overclocked, at around 40 dB. It has both Ethernet and 2.4 GHz WiFi, a screen, an included power supply and a browser dashboard.

Good and less good

Good

  • Ethernet port, unlike Bitaxe-style miners.
  • Finished case, screen and power supply; feels like a consumer product.
  • Quiet at default settings and backed by an established mining company.

Less good

  • About 40 J/TH: less efficient than a Bitaxe Gamma (about 15 J/TH) at a similar hashrate.
  • Costs two to three times as much as a Bitaxe Gamma for about the same hashrate.
  • At about 1 TH/s, solo blocks are a long shot and pool payouts are small.

Set it up on DirectPool

The BMM 101 runs Braiins OS with a web dashboard. Plug in Ethernet (simplest), read the IP address on the screen or in your router, and open it in a browser.

Type exactly this
Pool URL
stratum+tcp://stratum.directpool.io:3333
Username
your_bc1_address.worker_name
Password
x
Choose your mining region
Showing Europe, Lithuania (main server).
Changing the location only changes the address shown above. Copy it into your miner settings and restart or reconnect the miner. Miners already connected stay where they are. Every server mines the same pool, with the same payouts.
Browser ping, measured live from this page
Europe, Lithuania...
North America, Chicago...
Asia, Jakarta...
This measures your browser connection, not your miner or the full relay-to-pool path.

Replace your_bc1_address with a Bitcoin address you control (bc1 or 3). The part after the dot is a name for this machine, so you can tell your miners apart. Addresses starting with 1 are not accepted.

  1. 1.Plug in the power supply and, ideally, a network cable. For WiFi, follow the on-screen instructions to join a 2.4 GHz network.
  2. 2.Find the miner's IP address on its screen or in your router's device list, and open it in a browser on the same network.
  3. 3.Log in to Braiins OS and open the pool settings.
  4. 4.Replace the default pool with the values above, keeping stratum+tcp:// and :3333 in the URL.
  5. 5.Save. Braiins OS applies the change and the dashboard shows hashrate within a few minutes.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the default pool as the first entry. Put DirectPool first, or remove the default.
  • Dropping the stratum+tcp:// prefix or the :3333 port from the Pool URL.
  • Typing the Bitcoin address by hand. Copy and paste it into Username.
  • Overclocking to 80 W without good airflow. Double the power means double the heat and more fan noise.

After a few minutes, paste your address on the pool page to see the machine. Small miners can take a while to send their first share.

Questions

Braiins Mini Miner or Bitaxe Gamma?
Similar hashrate. The Bitaxe Gamma is cheaper and uses about half the power. The BMM 101 adds Ethernet, a finished case and Braiins support.
Can the BMM 101 mine on any pool?
Yes. Enter stratum+tcp://stratum.directpool.io:3333 as the pool URL, your bc1 address plus .worker as the username, and x as the password.
Does it support Ethernet?
Yes, a 100 Mbit/s port, plus 2.4 GHz WiFi. Ethernet is the more reliable choice.
How loud is it?
Around 40 dB at default settings, like a quiet fridge. It gets louder when overclocked.
How much electricity does it use?
About 350 kWh a year at 40 W, so about 70 a year at 0.20 per kWh.
